Melissa and Family, Fall City, Washington 2012

,

This stylish and attractive couple sat for Evette and me on a typical day in the Northwest with hazy sun and moisture covering everything.  It made for an all-enveloping light that was perfect for this scene.  The mother is a florist and provided the arrangement on the table behind her.  This was the perfect image from hundreds we shot to capture the right expressions on everyone including the dog.

Thomas Wingate 04

I met Thomas Wingate, the manager of Eaves Movie Ranch, in the Fall of 2010.  Eaves is a complete Western town movie set located near Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 1970, Eaves was the setting for the classic Western, the Cheyenne Social Club: www.eavesmovie ranch.com

Thomas and I spent a very productive 45 minutes together that afternoon resulting in the 10 images shown here.  The images are used with his kind permission.

Norman Santa Fe

Norman Mauskopf is an instructor at the Santa Fe School of Photography.  In 2006, I took his course on Getting Close that I recommend highly.  The course forced us to lose our inhibitions and approach people respectfully to photograph them.  Had I not taken the course, it is unlikely that many of the images in the People Gallery would exist today.

When Anne and I were 16, she asked if I would take some portfolio pictures of her since she was applying for a part in a show.  I readily agreed, but then had to scramble for find out what to do.  Armed with 3 simple incandescent bulbs in reflectors purchased from Spiratone, a 6×6 cm Rolleicord and a recent issue of Popular Photography, I was ready.  Anne was a delight and the images were professional-looking enough that they passed muster in New York City.  No technical details recorded.  1959
