Project Description

One of the famous landmarks in Death Valley is the view from Zabriskie Point particularly at sunrise.  When photographing there in 1976, I walked away from the crowd of photographers and found myself down in the wash itself.  As I prepared to make an image, I was aware of the sound of  my heart.  It was so still that my ears kept cranking up their sensitivity until they found my heartbeat.  I have had similar unsettling experiences but only in special anechoic chambers.
